The Detroit Lakes Jaycee chapter, was started in 1935 by a group of young men under the age of 35. The chapter was organized by 20 young businessmen on March 19, 1935, who elected Irv Lidstrom as their first president.
We volunteer to help others, fundraise for programs benefiting our community residents and spend countless hours organizing events for community members to participate in.
The “Toonerville Trolley” was a widely popular cartoon in the major newspapers for over fifty years. It is available for rent!
The Detroit Lakes Jaycees have been sponsoring the annual Northwest Water Carnival since they organized as a chapter in 1935. It has become one of the premier summer events in the lakes area, and includes a wide range of activities for the whole family.
We fundraise, but it’s not to make money for a profit. (Check out the Donations Page for more info on where the money goes).
